The End of an Era

This was a hard one.  I believe this sign has been hanging out front by the road for at lzeast 10 years.

Soooo, I finally took it down.  Without the alpacas or Alan here, I won't be giving tours anymore, so I will also not have a store here.

I'm thinking of redoing it as "Lost River Farms.  I still have all the paint, and I think I could make it work.

And here is the arbor without the sign.  Just many of the changes I've been forced to make since Alan died.
Since I have three different farmers leasing the land, I think I should change the sign to "Lost River Farms".  Make sure people know this is farmland.
So, I've had some great times with the family the past two weeks.  And for Mother's Day weekend, my DIL is celebrating her 30th birthday with a Kentucky Derby Day.  Everyone has to wear a hat.  It will be fun.  Have you seen Secretariat yet?  It's wonderful.  I remember watching all these races, but I still watched the movie with my breath held, wondering if he would make it.  Fun.

So many changes - but good things to come also. I like the idea of using the word "farms" in the sign - the old and the new combined.

Can't wait to see the hat you will design and wear - you always have such fun hats. Like the lady at the restaurant said the other day - you have such a sense of style.

I'm sorry for all the too-quick changes you have had to make, but I know you will find a way to work through them. You have a good idea for the name-change for the sign, too. And I bet you already have your thinking cap on as to what kind of hat you will design for the Kentucky Derby Day! Can't wait to see it.

I like the idea of "Lost River Farms" It sounds like the beginning of a new era. It keeps a sense of the history of the place and also shows the change.
Removing the sign had to be difficult. I hope that changing it a little and putting it back as new will bring a peaceful feeling.

Lost River Farms sounds wonderful, Linda. It seems as though you’ve made most of the hard changes already. And as Gene says, it is the start of a new era. That’s a great way to think of it. Your Mother’s Day is going to be fun - what a novel theme! Please, please share pictures of your hat (and others too!). What a hoot! And haven’t you started market this year? How is that going? Big hugs from Utah, Cathy

Lost River Farms is what it should be - at least with farmers leasing, you will always have something going on!!!

It is always hard to close the door on a wonderful life and move on to reinvent that life again. Whatever you do or whereever you go; you will carry all those memories with you. Hugs and prayers to you. You will survive and have fun.
